Nickel projects on ice due to declining prices and rising costs
About a year ago, nickel was the superstar of the commodities boom, trading at record levels above $23 (U.S.) a pound. Today, nickel miners are reeling from a harsh dose of reality as declining prices and rising costs have prompted a series of project cancellations and delays.
An analyst was quoted as saying:
We’re getting back to earth here.
