Mining Weekly reported Pioneer Resources (NYSE:PXD) is expected to take a majority interest in the Fairwater nickel gold project in Western Australia.

The Fairwater project covers some 338 km2 of predominantly granted tenure and lies within the mineral province that hosts both the Tropicana gold project and the recently discovered Nova nickel/copper deposit.
