Xstrata initiates labor talks with Sudbury

On Wednesday, Xstrata Plc (XTA.L) has begun labor talks with workers at its Sudbury, Ontario, nickel operations ahead of the Jan. 31 expiry of the current contract.

The news release is quoted as saying:

The start of negotiations comes as a strike at rival Sudbury nickel producer Vale (VALE5.SA) enters its sixth month with no end in sight.
